The Ash Echo is the Dunes of Oblivion's common track find and the material the game demands more units of than any other: the Supreme compass requires 2,900, the single highest figure in any recipe. A common with sublime rarity is no oversight — in the Dunes even everyday material sells for 60 Khron — but its job isn't income: it falls by the shovelful, 20-30 per find with the Sublime, and it's the sand the endgame is paid with.
