The Duel Banner is the item that decides how many hearts you walk into a boss fight with. It doesn't hit, heal or summon: it adds +10 power only at the moment your duel lives are calculated, and that nudge can be the difference between entering with 2 hearts or 3. You arm it from your bag and it waits; when you summon, if its +10 bumps you up a bracket, it's consumed — and if it changes nothing, the game doesn't charge you for it. It's one of the few items in the Veil that refuses to bill you for being useless.

Khron and only there. It costs 4.6 outings of work in your land — about 681 Khron for someone starting out in the Vale, climbing with your reputation so it always costs the same effort. That 4.6 is no whim: the banner cost 4 Essence until 08-22, and when it moved back to Khron the effort it already asked for was kept to the decimal; the currency changed, what it costs you didn't.
