Tracking turns up a single common, the Umbral Echo (Refined, 20 Khron), and one rare, the Alacrya Echo (Sublime, 60 Khron). Digging has two commons —Runic Fang and Petrified Sap, both Refined at 20 Khron— and one rare, the Stele Shard, Sublime, 60 Khron.

Which of the two you get is decided by your tool, not by the land: with the Mundane tier, 31% of your finds are Sublime and 69% Refined; with Refined, 40% / 60%; with Sublime, 58% / 42%; with Supreme, 62% / 38%.

Refined also opens a fourth find per outing —Mundane gives three— and raises the haul from 4-7 to 8-12 per find; rares come in at three quarters of that. Sold whole, one outing here with Refined gear runs about 1,190 Khron. And the Alpha drops an Alpha's Fang on every defeat, not just the first.

Why come here

This is Sublime country, and that is not a figure of speech. The Sublime Compass asks for 245 Umbral Echo, 87 Alacrya Echo, 54 Runic Fang and 109 Ancestral Bone from the Vale, plus 112,000 Khron. The Sublime Claws are its exact mirror: 245 Runic Fangs, 87 Stele Shard, 109 Petrified Sap, 54 Old Bone and the same Khron. Three of every four ingredients come from here.

The Portal to Dunes of Oblivion asks for 58 Essence, tools at tier 2 (Refined) at minimum, 5 Alpha's Fang —five wins against the boss, with a 4-minute wait between summons— and, in materials, 64 Alacrya Echoes, 88 Runic Fangs and 44 Breeze Echo from Dawn Vale. On top of that it charges a rite of 26,180 Khron: the first Portal cost 1,924.

Worth knowing

The asymmetry nobody looks at. Tracking has one common and digging has two, so everything you track piles up as Umbral Echo while everything you dig splits between Runic Fang and Petrified Sap: each one comes in at half the rate. And the Fang is the most demanded material on the continent —88 for the Portal, 54 for the Sublime Compass, 245 for the Sublime Claws and 1,520 for the Supreme Claws—, so if you are only going to farm one thing here, farm that. The Sap Compass, which the shop introduces in this very continent, points your commons at whichever you have least of, and it only does anything where there is more than one common: digging here or in the Vale. Nowhere else in the world is it worth a thing.

The boss jump. Your power is 22 + 4 per level + 6 per tool tier. With both Refined tools equipped that is 46, and the Alpha hits at 75: below its power you enter the duel with fewer lives. At level 8 you get three; at level 3, two; fresh off the Portal, one.

The classic mistake. Selling Stele Shards because they are worth 60. This is the only continent where they drop, and between the Sublime Claws, the Supreme Claws and the Supreme Compass you will be asked for 482. Same with the Alacrya Echo: the Portal out of the Dunes of Oblivion asks for 60 more once you are already there.
