Tracking drops the Faint Echo as its common and the Breeze Echo as its rare. Digging drops two commons —Carved Stone and Old Bone— plus the Ancestral Bone as its rare. All three commons are Mundane and sell for 5 Khron; the two rares are Refined and sell for 20.

The split between common and rare is decided by your tool, not by the land: with Mundane gear every find comes out 69% common / 31% rare; with Refined, 60/40; with Sublime, 42/58; with Supreme, 38/62. Quantity works the same way: a Mundane outing opens 3 finds of 4-7 units (the rare comes up shorter, 3-5), and a Refined one opens 4 of 8-12.

Beyond materials, every outing has a 55% chance of leaving you a boss key —Hunter's Mark if you track, War Horn if you dig— and a 5.8% chance of dropping Essence, up to 15 at once. That chance drops as you upgrade —5.8% with Mundane, 5.2% with Refined, 5.0% with Sublime and 4.4% with Supreme—, but it is the same across all five lands: here you are no slower than anyone else towards the portal.

Why come here

What the Vale gives you forges both Refined tools, and the recipes are crossed on purpose: the Compass asks for 97 Faint Echo + 36 Breeze Echo + 32 Carved Stone and 7,800 Khron; the Claws ask for 97 Stone + 36 Ancestral Bone + 32 Faint Echo and the same 7,800. You cannot raise one branch without stepping into the other. And repairing a Mundane piece costs 34 units of its branch's common, so these two materials never stop being needed.

They do not stay here either: 2 Faint Echo are the stake of every ingot at the Echo Forge, and three of the six symbols of the Veil Trail come from the Vale — two minigames that do not open until the fourth and the third continent.

The portal leads to Umbral Forest and asks for all of this at once: 40 Essence, 52 Breeze Echo, 41 Ancestral Bone, 124 Carved Stone, 4 Guardian's Core and a rite of 1,924 Khron. As for gear it only demands the Mundane Compass and Claws: the ones you already carry.
