ConsumableEssence is THE bottleneck of the Veil: it pays for the Workshop, the natures wheel (25 a roll) and, above all, the four portals — 40, 58, 75 and 120, 293 across the whole campaign. It cannot be bought at the Wanderer's stall in any currency; between players it does move, because the trade screen admits it on purpose. The Oblivion Salts are one of the few things that speed it up: a flask opens a 10-outing window in which your chance of finding it rises by +0.3 points. They turn the resource you have too much of into the one you lack, without spending a single extra minute of play.

The number isn't round because it is a parity price: each charge saves 0.06 outings of Essence-hunting, the flask is worth 0.58 outings of work, and that — no more, no less — is what it costs. It came from 1,710; "it was almost right already", says the 08-16 note that derived the price from the bonus itself.
